Christmas Day
It was good. We slept late, opened presents, slept again, went to Waru-Saru's house, I cooked a roast, stuffed ourselves silly, came home, slept, went to town, fairly empty and relaxed, went to Exhibition Centre, walked back along riverside, had a couple of slices of pizza, big coffees, home again.
Now it's time to try out photobucket.
Here's my old steel wheels and terrible hubcaps:
Here's what I thought I wanted to buy (Australian Superlites - local Minilite copy):
And here's the actual wheels I got on the car, which I think are much better than Superlites. These are genuine Nismo wheels, although they're pretty much copied off Watanabe RS-8s, which in turn are copied off English Minilites. These wheels are from the R31 Coupe below, and now they're on the R31 Wagon. Can you see the family resemblance?
I feel very satisfied looking at my car now. I feel like I've got my own car again, not floating around on the floppy old steelies with their imprecise steering, and bump steer when they unload half way through a corner. Everyone should have alloys, just for the improvement in steering/handling. If cars were more inclined to go where people pointed them, there'd be a few less accidents.
In time, I'll replace the bushes with urethane, the shocks with something Japanese (there's some shitty old local Monroe gas shocks now), and I want bigger front brakes as I'm not that impressed with the braking. I think the spring rates now are pretty good. In the photo you can see the rear discs are bigger than the front discs which is just insanity. When the car is cornering and stopping as I want it, then I'll move into the engine bay.
